Resources
Overview
Highmark Healthy High 5 provides resources to help you join the effort to promote lifelong healthy behaviors in children and adolescents (ages 6-18) to ensure that they have healthy bodies and minds.
Studies illustrate that the health habits children develop at a young age will continue with them through adulthood. In fact, preventable illnesses make up approximately 70 percent
of illness and associated costs in the U.S. according to the New England Journal of Medicine.
Also, serious, chronic conditions are beginning earlier in life, according to The Surgeon General's Call to Action to Prevent and Decrease Overweight and Obesity, a 2001 report.
The challenge we all face is serious. This Resources section of this Web site provides answers to frequently asked questions and a list of things you can do to help improve children's health, as well as links to other resources.
