Featuring an award winning website, Health eTools for Schools utilizes a collaborative approach to help schools reverse the current health crisis in their community. The program is structured around a coordinated school health model that is endorsed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A multi-component approach designed to encourage schools, families, and communities to work together to improve students' health and their capacity to learn. It allows schools to evaluate themselves against best practices, and enables them to prioritize and implement a plan through policy, practice, and curriculum.
Health eTools for Schools became a significant component of the Highmark Healthy High 5 initiative when it was launched in 2006. Since that time Highmark Foundation funding has afforded access at no cost to school districts as well as parochial and charter schools throughout the Pennsylvania communities served by Highmark, and will continue to do so through Aug. 31, 2013.
