- First Lady Michelle Obama, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Vilsack, and Surgeon General Regina Benjamin announced the new food icon, MyPlate that replaces MyPyramid. MyPlate gives us a visual reminder to fill half our plate with fruits and vegetables, along with protein, whole grains and dairy. An easy-to-understand visual cue to help consumers adopt healthy eating habits, MyPlate is consistent with the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
